Welcome Message from Mr. Ryan Wilde

Welcome to Napoleon High School’s official web page.  I am Ryan J. Wilde the principal of the high school.  I am starting my seventeenth year with Napoleon Area City Schools.   I began my tenure with NACS starting in the summer of 1997.  During the course of my career with our schools, I have served as a social studies teacher, dean of students, high school assistant principal, and middle school principal before becoming high school principal.  While I was a teacher at the high school I participated in the supervision of some of the extra-curricular programming available to students, such as Hi-Y, football, and community service.  I take great pride in the length of tenure I have served the families, staff, and students in the district.  My wife, children, and I are happy to call this community our home.  We are a small town with big dreams where each student has value and meaning in our educational learning community.

Prior to my arrival to Napoleon Area City Schools I worked as a special education teacher for two years, one with the Wood County Educational Service Center and the other with Springfield Local Schools.  When I speak of my experience in private sector before entering the field of education, individuals are often surprised to discover I was employed for three years by a contractual security firm in Chicago running a hospital public safety department, as well as a member of the corporation’s executive security detail.  All of these life experiences help me in the capacity of being a member of the district’s administrative team working to better the schools for children.

Napoleon High School campus is nestled on an inviting 69 acres in the northwestern portion of the city and is committed to the historic tradition of being recognized as a premier academic institution.  Our goal is to help all students excel in life by providing excellent educational experiences.  Napoleon students have consistently scored well on all standardized assessments such as ACT, SAT, and the Ohio Graduation Test.  The Napoleon Area City School District consistently ranks well above the state average on the state report card.  We have made it our collective effort to be an outstanding school district and it is reflective in our “Excellent” rating with the state.

Our students excel in classroom and on the field of play with the assistance from parents and staff.  We often speak of the “Tradition of Excellence” and highlight our “Wildcat Pride” as a learning community.  We have passionate parents, strong students, and a caring staff.   Our staff does it’s very best to serve each student from the time a child is greeted at the bus in the morning to the moment he or she walks into a classroom or cafeteria.  When we wear “Blue & White” is displays our unity.

During the 2013-2014 school year, our facility will be experiencing significant change as a result of the community’s willingness to pass a bond issue to participate in an Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC) renovation and new construction project.  Staff, students, and community members will notice work beginning in mid-August and lasting the entire school year.  During the construction phases of the project, our goal is to continue to offer a high quality education for all our boys and girls.  The administration will continuously offer updates so everyone is aware of the progress.  It will be a very exciting time for NHS.  Upon completion of the project in August 2015, NHS will be a showcase for the community, as it has always been for decades.  I am proud to be a “Wildcat” and the administration thanks our votes, parents, students, and staff for their dedication in making NHS one of the best places to get an education.  We are proud of our “Wildcat Nation”!

“Go Wildcats!”
